I was once asked in an online interview question to talk about a trend i believe will emerge in the short future. I replied with total integration - and specifically referred to music/movie downloading. You start a download on your computer, check the status on your phone - get into your car and play it through the car system.
It seems i might be right; the trend is on its way to our cars. I heard about this concept a few years ago, and the problem then was billing governance. With the move towards cloud computing and standard platforms, such as iTunes - this problem is becoming less and less.
This would also mean that the quality of music has to be revised (it has dropped over the years, to create faster downloads due to slower bandwidths and poor quality from standard PC speakers). Better bandwidth + car stereo systems = room for better quality sound. Dr. Dre has been complaining about this issue for years, leading to his new headphone product range Beats By Dr.Dre

"Pandora is also the subject of the other announcement relevant to this piece. It’s working with Pioneer on a $1,200 in-car entertainment system, which when connected to a user’s iPhone will let them access their Pandora account and streams while driving. The device will start being marketed in March, apparently. It’s the first step towards integrating services like Pandora into the cars themselves without the need for a mobile handset. This crossover isn’t a new idea – Omnifone has been talking about its in-car plans for a while too."
